One who stands for nothing, falls for anything
There are those who make things happen. There are also those who watch things happen. And there are those who wonder, "what happened?” There is only one, of three lots, that awaits every living soul: Lead, follow, or get out of the way. As the hearer of this call responds, so shall his position and portion in life be marked.

O J SIMPSON FOUND GUILTY
We are not ignorant, Massa. For perceived obvious reasons, we, the people, black people, that is,
are almost always seen by they, the people, as incapable of making informed judgment. Any
wonder why it’s the mentality that made certain that the O J Simpson robbery trial saw no
black juror?
In case Massa has forgotten, we have black Judges, Prosecutors, and Jury who have convicted
and sent black defendants to jail. Oh, lest I forget, State Attorney, Christopher Darden, who, on
a promise of feeling up Marcia Clark’s knobby knees, swore by everything that creeps and
crawls, that O J Simpson killed his ex-wife. We just are smart enough to know when one of our
own is being railroaded.
Oh yes, brother! When you accuse OJ of murders that could only take speed of both superman
and the Tasmanian devil to accomplish, you’ll hear from us. When you make up stories and set
on Michael Jackson like white on rice, the buck must definitely stop somewhere. When you
beat Rodney King like he stole something, and say the one man, of whom you say was under the
influence, was over-powering, you must hear from the boys. But this time, it’s different.
The robbery case is really different. As we all know: “A-jugbuo nwa dibia na-ogu, a-puru ya fee
ama nna ya. This was not about race, and there was nothing anybody could have done about
it. We had no leg to stand on. O J Simpson just walked into that one with his eyes open, or
probably glazed from dope.
In Igboland, we first drive away the wolf, then turn around and scold the chicken. We may
have been too busy celebrating O J’s acquittal that we neglected to scold him. The result? He
believed he was invincible. Oh, boy, did he get that wrong. Oh, yes, Massa can touch that, and
whatever else he wants, even if you were MC Hammer.
We had nobody to latch onto this time around. There was no Christopher Darden to daydream
about alone time with Ms Clark. There were no LA hangmen to try to polish O J’s car door
handles and dashboard with blood. Where was Detective Mark Fuhrman when we needed
Him? This man stores and transport blood better than any mosquito ever could.
Was O J set up? Was he entrapped? I guess we couldn’t touch those, could we? The man
committed the crimes he was charged with, simple. He took the law in his hands. He came, he
saw, he took. That was the case. His inability to wiggle out of that made room of the
peripherals to pile on.
The prosecutors tagged on kidnap, weapons brandishing, etc. And the jury believed them.
Video and sound recordings were on hand. His acquittal of the murder charges was miracle. To
get out from under this one? No man should be that lucky.
I know not what lesson should be learned here. Don’t make wave wile you are in Massa’s
crosshair? Fate is not to be tempted one time too many? In the real world, acquittal does not
erase guilt imposed by the court of public opinion? I give up.
